Great Perch Dinner!!
We have made this a destination stop, a drive along Lake Erie has to include this restaurant! Very nice staff, great food, we had the perch dinner, excellent!!!
Wonderful Stay and Dining
We stayed two nights … the cabin we stayed in was spacious, clean and laid out very well. The dining room was very busy but the service was excellent as was the food. A family atmosphere exists here and we thoroughly enjoy our visits.
Cozy and Great Food!
Friendly little place. Great Bloody Marys. Super good homemade soups. Recommend the perch burger and the poutine, but everything we had was excellent.
This little restaurant in Erieau is worth the visit. Had the halibut and chips and the fish was excellent, with a light batter (not thick and greasy like some places). The restaurant is filled with an assortment of curios and pictures of sea captains and fishermen, and they have a neat Titanic display. [I] had never been to this little beach hamlet, but it would probably be great in the summer … have to visit again!
Arriving back in Canada, [this is] always one of our first stops! Love the perch. Very friendly staff; great atmosphere.
OJ Vidler was born and raised in Erieau, but found himself stationed in Belfast, Ireland, as a member of the Canadian Navy in the 2nd World War. It was here where he would meet Molly McCoy, his future bride. After the war, OJ was head of his own fishing tug, the EauJay. Strong hauls kept Molly busy cleaning the fish, and selling it to locals and tourists.
The Vidlers then purchased a grocery store, which is now our existing restaurant. On the beach behind, they added cottages and trailer spaces, giving the increasing tourists a place to stay. Molly’s home-cooked perch was a hit – and the couple decided to ride its positive response into additional entrepreneurial ventures. They bought adjacent property to their grocery store and transformed it into a small coffee shop. Later, it would become The Sandbar, a friendly watering hole for locals and tourists alike.
Today, Molly & OJ’s Restaurant, The Sandbar, and Lakeside Cabin Rentals continue to serve families from all over. Come experience Molly & OJ’s to see why we’re still going strong since 1966. We’re waiting for you.
